Carena Harvey's Holy Fire Inspired for a dance piece that used OOOMB's "Holy Fire" banner as part of the dance.
"What will I be?" enquired the faceless dust.
"You will be the fire of my spirit!" boomed the voice.
"Will I be of any use to you: Father?"
"You will be my very breath" came the reply.
And with one Holy breath the flame of the Lord was born.
Thinking not of her own will but His.
She sparked at first in short spasms.
Hic hic hic hic up!
Up towards the Heavens did she reach.
Streaking from either side of her straight torso.
First the right side; a sunset tongue.
Then the left; a tangerine peel.
Shards of flaming red; flags of providence.
She had arms.
From the roots of she,
Planted upon His word did she flare.
Brazen orange fronds kicking right; then left.
Leaning to the back and to the side and all around.
Leaping from the ground she was of fire.
From a spark to a flame in a desert of dry bones.
She had permission to reach inside the hearts of men.
Heating; lighting and melting the cold dark and frozen.
She was His divine will.
His final exhale before judgement.
Flung forth form the sceptre of His throne room; sacred place.
She was the shiver of a quiver.
A flaming arrow set for souls.
She was His twist.
His very shout, of lightening bolts and forceful tones.
Spinning; spitting, leaning , bending, turning around His globe.
Pure and precise : candle bright: ember white.
She was His sword of truth and might.
She was His own.
"Go forth and tell the world that soon I will return.
Luke warm I will spew out.
My people they must burn.
Spirit of life.
Furnace of death to mortal sin.
Spread Your wings of justice and lead the captives in.
Rise and fall volcanic spark: my stripes alone have healed.
There is not dark: I am the way.
Go and reveal!"
She took His words and tossed her hair; fiery tresses in the air.
Running now with one direction; preach the news. His resurrection.
Over, under, skips and beats; flaming spirit feisty feet.
Clapping hands and fists of surge; ashes fall; His spirit burns.
Praise Our God His Son returns.
